The Smilvin Process
Seven stages of
master craftsmanship
Every piece that leaves our Surat workshop goes through seven meticulous stages. No shortcuts. No compromises.
Design & CAD
Every piece begins as a precise 3D CAD model. Our designers iterate digitally before a single gram of metal is touched, ensuring perfect proportions and stone fit.
Metal Casting
Molten 18K gold or platinum is cast using lost-wax process into the exact form of the CAD model. The raw casting is carefully inspected for porosity or defects before proceeding.
Filing & Finishing
Master finishers hand-file every surface to remove casting marks and create the precise geometry needed for stone setting. This stage can take hours per piece.
Stone Selection
Each diamond is individually hand-selected under magnification to match the design specification exactly — carat weight, cut, colour, and clarity all verified.
Setting
Our setters — each with 10–20 years of experience — secure every stone by hand. Prongs are pushed with a graver, milgraining is applied with a millegrainer, and every stone is checked for stability.
Polishing
The set piece is polished on a bench lathe with progressively finer compounds until every surface achieves a mirror finish. High-set stones are hand-polished under magnification.
Quality Control
A final inspection under 10× magnification checks every prong, every stone, and every surface. Only pieces that pass all checks leave our workshop.
